When 45S5 contacts saliva, it undergoes a sequence of reactions. They are ion exchange and pH rise, silica network breakdown, and calcium and phosphate deposition. As the result of these reactions, a layer of hydroxyapatite layer is formed. This layer seals open dentinal tubules and acts like a physical barrier against acid attack. 45S5 can also promotes an alkaline environment to prevent caries and provides ions for remineralization.
Cosmetics: Redness Reduction, Wrinkle Improvement, Anti-inflammatory Effects, and Nail Care
When 4S5S contacts water or moisture, it releases ions that stimulate skin repair and raise local pH. It activates cells that build skin structure, promotes angiogenesis, help calm excessive inflammation, and physically reinforce the skin barrier. 4S5S also improves nail condition by forming a mineral layer on the keratin surface.
Medical Field: Wound Healing and Bone Regeneration
The mechanism of the use of 45S5 in wound healing is similar to the mechanism of its use in skin care. It promotes wound healing by stimulating processes such as haemostasis, antibacterial efficacy, epithelial cell migration, angiogenesis, and fibroblastic cell proliferation. 45S5 is widely used in bone regeneration.
